As a musician & songwriter myself, I can think along with my clients in a more in-depth way, where necessary helping to re-arrange songs to make them shine.
As a multi-instrumentalist I can be your producer AND your session musician.
I love analogue recording cause it forces us to work and think differently.
We've gotten used to quantising and over-editing everything, tracking 20 different vocal takes and making a frankenstein track with a different word from each take. We're overthinking what it is we do when we make music and are draining all the life out of it.
Instead, we should try and aim for a focused, authentic performance where we try to get the musicians performing in real time, ad much together as possible, to capture the energy, the moment, and the humanity that makes music touch us. It's not about perfection, it's about expression.
I can record you on tape OR on a computer, but in both cases I like to challenge you to think of a song as a performance, as a whole, with as little copy-pasting as possible. Going back to the way they worked in the sixties and seventies. Embracing happy mistakes, bleed, and all the energy that comes from the excitement of knowing the tapes are rolling.
